On the 8th of October, Arch Safeguarding took part in the annual conference of Centrum Veilige Sport Nederland (Dutch Center for Safe Sport) at Papendal in the Netherlands. The event brings together people from clubs, federations, athlete support teams and research groups who all work toward the same goal: a sporting culture where safety is seen as a shared responsibility.
Together with Nynke Kingma, casemanager at the Center, Tine guided a hands on workshop on building a complete safeguarding policy within sport organisations. Participants explored what a strong policy looks like in practice, how to move from a document to daily behaviour and how small structural choices can make a real difference. The session combined case work, short discussions and practical tools that help organisations translate intentions into action.

Later that day she delivered a keynote on safeguarding in international sport. The talk highlighted global trends, emerging evidence and lessons across different regions. It touched on the growing alignment between international frameworks, the need for consistent monitoring and the value of athlete centred approaches when designing prevention and response systems.
The conference offered an energising mix of expertise and open conversation. Thank you to Centrum Veilige Sport Nederland for creating a space where learning, reflection and collaboration come together so naturally.
